The question of the flag...

Tonight I went to an RSL event in my suburb. While I was waiting for the formalities to begin, I was looking around and checking out the little room that made up the whole club. They had invested in a new banner since I was there last. The sort of banner that corporate functions use, a pull up banner. Quite a splurge for such a little club. It was striking. A large Australian flag on its end, with the name of the RSL at the bottom. Then I noticed something. The flag was backwards. As if you were looking at it from the back (and no, the banner wasn't double sided). The Union Jack was in the top left corner with the large star to the right and the Southern Cross below it. Completely wrong. Happened to mention it to my dad who I was there with, and seemed to cause a bit of a stir. Nobody had noticed it till then. Someone asked if I was in the military. Proud to say although I've never served, I still know what our flag is meant to look like. Eek. Maybe I shouldn't have rocked the boat....
